The Career Advocate is a key role within the Workforce Australia program. The main responsibility is to accurately assess participants and formulate the Workforce Australia Plan to effectively and efficiently place them in employment or education. The person will be required to develop and monitor the participation of the individual.
Ensuring that all placements adhere to and are compliant with the requirements under the Deed; vacancy management and matching vacancies to participants are key functions of this role. The position is responsible for ensuring there is a steady stream of participants being actively worked with to increase their employability. Marketing activities will also focus on engaging businesses and other organisations to identify employment opportunities. In addition, the position will promote training opportunities and other programs which are delivered by Training Alliance Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure participants are actively engaged in activities which will effectively assist them in moving into sustainable employment or education.
- Ensure the requirements of the program and the expectation to be actively engaged is understood by the participant.
- Support participants to ensure all program requirements are being met.
- Complete the initial interview with all participants and accurately assess or review their strengths, skills, and level of work readiness.
- Supporting individuals with multiple social, cultural, and personal barriers.
- Conduct appropriate assessments and identify any barriers that may exist.
- Work closely with participants to co-design a tailored plan to prepare them for the workforce. The plan should contain specific goals, activities and timeframes.
- Match their skills and attributes to current or potential vacancies or training.
- Reverse market participants to potential employers.
- Source vacancies or education placements that are suitable and sustainable to the individual.
- Refer participants as appropriate to other organisations to manage, or assist in managing, any barriers to employment or education.
- Ensure all information is accurately captured within ESS, Job Ready or other systems as required.
- Provide support to individuals who are placed into employment or education.
- Provide other support and services as required to engage participants, prepare them for the workforce and place them in meaningful employment.

- Performance targets will be negotiated as part of TAGs regular performance planning and review processes.
- The incumbent is required to undertake a police and Working With Children Check prior to employment.
- The incumbent is expected to travel intra-state and interstate.
- The incumbent can be expected to be allocated duties not specifically outlined within their position description, however within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from a person occupying this position.
- TAG employees must comply with any public health orders, legislation made by state and territory governments as well as community expectations relevant to our services.

Competencies
- Proven comprehensive and effective assessment skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate small groups.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with job seekers from a range of backgrounds.
- A proven track record of achieving performance targets and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely to suit the purpose e.g. case notes, reports, etc.
- Sound Information Technology and administration skills.
- Enthusiasm, commitment, flexibility, and positive attitude in working with participants to achieve outcomes.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience with electronic Document Management systems is desirable.
- Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities will be well regarded
- A satisfactory National Police Check and a current Working With Children Check
