Job Description

About the Role
As a Trainer and Assessor Assistant – Civil, you'll support our Trainers and Assessors to deliver quality Vocational Education and Training (VET) and assessment for civil construction and plant operations courses, across a range of contemporary training settings. You'll play a key role in helping students stay engaged, supported, and on track to complete their course.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist trainers with training, facilitation and feedback that engages and supports students to progress through their course, in line with their training plan or course schedule
  • Help engage and retain students to support successful course completion
  • Supervise students during practical, onsite training
  • Provide shuttle transport for students between the train station and the nearest practical training site
  • Maintain up-to-date industry currency relevant to the civil construction and plant operations courses being delivered and assessed
  • Undertake professional development as required by TAG, including in Training and Assessment skills
  • Maintain a Professional Development Log and contribute to the trainer skills matrix
  • Attend team meetings as required
  • Represent TAG in a positive and professional manner with agencies, students and other stakeholders
  • Support a safe working environment and adhere to all HSEQ responsibilities

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within civil construction or plant operations
  • Relevant qualifications, or mapped industry experience, in civil construction plant operations
  • Ability to work within and coordinate small teams
  • Ability to supervise and manage small teams
  • Ability to understand and interpret government guidelines and regulations
  • Current driver's licence (required for student transport duties)

Candidates must be willing to undergo a National Police Check and hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check.
